It depends. Most home policies cover you for hail damage.  It is understandable that we would want a new roof and siding if there is damage after a storm.  Insurance companies settle claims for actual damage to the home.  Hypothetically, if 25% of your roof is damaged you will be compensated for 25% damage.  This may or may not exceed your deductible.  Insurance companies will replace an entire roof if the majority of the roof is damaged.  The same holds true for siding damage, the insurance company will compensate for actual damage sustained.

Insurance companies use sophisticated software that calculate the replacement cost to rebuild your home. The price that someone is willing to pay for your home is a very different number. Sometimes the replacement cost is higher than the market value and vice versa.
